{ Our Master Bedroom }

For 6 months I have wanted to post pictures of the inside of our new house but I kept saying to myself "I will do it once I finish the drapes" or "I will do it once I get this bedroom finished."  Well, finally our master bedroom is ALMOST finished so I am ready to share some pictures!

The inspiration-
I am obsessed with Pottery Barn and how they stage all their rooms in their catalogs and stores.  I had a little help from a family friend who happens to be an interior designer so when I told her I was going for a "Pottery Barn look" she knew exactly what I meant.  But...I have to say, now that it is done, we really ended up going in a completely different direction than I ever thought we would but I am SO happy with the end result and love every single thing about our room.  It still has a lot of pieces from Pottery Barn and much of the room as the look we were originally going for but then we put a twist on it by adding in a bright color.  You'll see what I am talking about....

Furniture- Ashley Furniture
Bedding- Pottery Barn
Name Pillow- Etsy
Lamps- Pottery Barn
Plaque above bed- Ballard Designs
Window Treatments- Designed and installed by our family friend

excuse the wrinkled bedding...opps!

We loved the light greens, blues, tan and white in the bedding so that was the first thing we bought. So, originally we were going to stick with those colors when it came to decorating the room.  With the help of the interior designer she came up with the idea of bringing in a brighter turquoise in the decorating and window treatments.  At first my husband and I were a little nervous and unsure about using that color.  We tend to be a little "matchy matchy" so bringing in a bright, bold color like that would look a little wild...or so we thought.  Turns out it looks amazing and we love it!! Here are the window treatments we just had installed over the weekend (sorry for the dark pictures!)...

She said the turquoise is just a "hard" version of the blue that is already in the bedding.
The drapes will close over the windows but we are keeping them open for a few weeks so the creases will set.  The length of the drapes make the ceilings much taller than they really are.

We brought in more of the turquoise in the accent pieces and accessories....

Wall Paintings-  Woodlands Fabrics & Interiors
Accessories- Hobby Lobby, Home Goods

We are going to add a sconce and candle to each side of the over the bed plaque and I need to get a couple photographs in some nice frames to put on the night stands but after that I think we are done with this room!

What do you think?!

Stay tuned for another room in the next couple of weeks! =)
