LINK UP: HOW I MAKE THAT MONEY, HONEY!

Time for a brand new link up!! Lindsey is hosting this fun link up to share all the details about your job and a little about how you got there!  I alway love learning about other peoples jobs and industries so I knew this would be a good one.
Head over to her blog and join in the fun =)

So...a little history...
I went to college at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL.  It is a private Christian school sitting on the edge of the intracoastal waterway in WPB and home of the Sailfish (awesome mascot).   My dorm room literally overlooked the intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.  This and living so close to Miani made it VERY hard to go to class or get homework done.

I started out as an Elementary Ed major and Psychology minor but did not enjoy it as much as I hoped.  So, since I had a long background in Dance and I loved learning all about the body, I switched over to become a Dance Pedagogy major (teaching dance) and Exercise Science minor.  I loved every single one of my classes that involved my major and minor (except Kinesiology was one of the hardest classes ever) but I hated, and I mean HATED, all of my regular core classes- Math, Science, etc...  I did terrible in them.  Long story short, I dropped out of college after 2 1/2 years.  That was back in 2003 and I can honestly say I have not regretted that decision one time.  There were times a few years ago where I considered going back but those moments passed quickly.  During college and the 6 years I lived in Florida, I worked at Bath & Body Works, Abercrombie, Bebe; I was an assistant to the President of Plastic Surgery in Palm Beach and I was a nanny for one of the investers of Victoria Secret.  But the job that turned out to be the biggest of them all and that helped get the job I have today, was working in the car business.  I worked for BMW, Mini Copper, Audi, Porsche, Bentley and Rolls Royce.  I worked there for 3 years in Palm Beach and 3 years in Texas.

Fast forward to today.  I am now a Fleet & Logistics Specialist for an Environmental Services and Industrial Services company in Houston, TX.  I.love.my.job.  SO much.  In October I will have been here for 4 years.
I work for the corporate office for my company but I help manage the fleet (equipment) for about 100 locations that are all over the US.  I make sure all of our equipment has titles, registrations and insurance cards.  I assist in selling equipment at auctions all over the US and I manage the money that we get for selling that equipment.  I travel about twice a month doing a project that helps manage our drivers.  I have made my way to about half of our locations so I still have a long way to go.  99% of my job in on the computer...email and spreadsheets that are thousands of lines long.  I have assisted in several major DOT audits and even taken a couple Haz Mat classes, which I loved.  There is a lot more to my job but that is it in a nutshell.

It's funny to think that I went from wanting to be a dance teacher to the job that I have today.  Completely opposite of what I ever imagined I would end up doing but I would not change a thing about it.
