Weekend Shenanigans!

Happy Monday, friends!
I am linking up with Sami over at Sami's Shenanigans to share all about our weekend!

FRIDAY

1.  Tried a new recipe thanks to my sister-in-law....Memphis Style Pulled Pork.  And it.was.amazing.  I cooked it for 8 1/2 hours in the crock pot and it was DELISH!
2.  Connor has started to hold on to things on his own.  I put the little rattle in right by his hands and he grabbed it and held on.  Love seeing how much he changes each week.
3. The little guy must be going thru a growth spurt.  He slept off and on ALL day Friday!  It gave me a chance to get a lot of things around the house done.  AND he slept thru the night for the first time ever!! He went to sleep about 8:30 and woke up at 6:30.  Happy, happy Mama and Daddy :)
4.  The first Texans pre-season game was on and that means my husband was glued to the TV.  And that also means it was Connor's first of many, many football games and a really cute photo opportunity for Mama.  This is one of my most favorite pictures of them together ever.  I am getting it framed for daddy's office :)

SATURDAY

My brother came home!!!! So glad he is back home safe after 7 months!

SUNDAY

We took Connor to my home church where I grew up for the first time.  I am terrible and didn't get any pictures though.  Boo.  We put him in the nursery so we could enjoy the service but I got paged in the middle of it because he was crying and not taking the bottle.  So, I had to miss the last half of the service since I had to feed him.  But, that's ok.  It was fun seeing so many friends and people I have known for the majority of my life!

He slept thru the night again!! Whohooo!!

After church we went to one of my best friend's 30th birthday brunch at America's.  Brunch buffet + bottomless mimosas, margaritas, bloody Mary's and mojitos...Yes, please!! (Although I only had one margarita...no bottomless drinks since I am still BF ;) )  Holly and I have been best friends since we were in 7th grade!  Fun day celebrating her big 3-0!

{Choosing to be a SAHM}

I am one of those that has always known I wanted to be a SAHM (stay at home mom, for those that don't know).  Even when I was growing up and I pictured myself with kids, I knew I wanted to be able to stay home with them, if possible.

Thankfully, it is possible and that is exactly what I am doing.

Up until this past December I had a great career that I loved.  I was doing something I loved and was good at, I loved my boss and co-workers, I got to travel twice a month and I had some great perks.  Then on December 7th that all went away.... my company let go of over 60 people in one day and that included my ENTIRE department.  You can read the whole story here.
I was pretty devastated.  I knew that when May came around and our baby boy was born that I would stop working but I never thought it wouldn't happen on my terms and never thought it would happen 6 months early.   All of the sudden I became a SAHW....stay at home wife.

I got to spend the last 6 months of my very uncomfortable pregnancy at home.  I was in Heaven!  I got lost of rest, finished a lot of projects around the house and got ready for the arrival of our baby.  As sad as I was about losing my job, it ended up being a HUGE blessing in disguise.

I have had many days where I miss the corporate world.  I miss lunches at my favorite Houston restaurants with co-workers.  I miss traveling (even though I complained about it a lot of the time).  I miss my projects that I was in charge of and managed for my company.  I miss getting all dressed up.  I miss after work happy hours.  I even miss my dinky cubicle.

But..... would I trade any of that for my life now?  Nope...absolutely not.
I love spending every day, all day with Connor.  I love our routine (or lack of a routine some days) and love watching him grow.   I feel very lucky and fortunate to be able to stay at home with him every day.  My husband works very hard so that I am able to do that.

I know this life isn't for everyone and I know some are not able to stay home with their babies, even though they want to.  So, I try not to take it for granted.

Maybe one day I will want to go back to work.  Maybe not.
Until then I am going to enjoy every day I get to spend with my sweet boy and thank God (and my hubby) that I am able to stay home. :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

It's been FOREVER since I linked up with Jamie for WILW!  But, I am back!

Here is what I'm loving these days....

1.  I am loving these new outfits I picked up for Connor at Baby GAP. Whoever said shopping for boys isn't as much fun as girls?!?

2.  I am loving that MTV has been showing re-runs of Laguna Beach and The Hills every morning (yes, I am 31 and still watch these)!  I watch a lot more TV these days since I am home a lot more and was so excited to see these shows back on.  It reminded me of my college days in West Palm Beach :)

3.  I am loving (or maybe not really...) that my birthday was yesterday.  I can't believe I am 31 years old.  Craziness!!  My parents are watching Connor on Friday night so hubby and I can have a night out to celebrate!

4.  I am loving Nick Lachey's newest "baby" CD, "A Father's Lullaby."
I play it for Connor when he naps during the day :)

5.  I am loving all of my new Honest Company products!  I got diapers, wipes, fruit & veggie spray, cleaning spray and bubble bath.  These are awesome, safe, toxic/chemical free products for your home and body (and baby!).  So far I am loving everything.  If you haven't read Jessica Alba's book, The Honest Life, I highly recommend it :)

6.  And last but not least...I am loving my sweet baby boy that is 10 weeks old this week!

Head over to Jamie's blog and link up!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Connor- 2 months

Hi friends!! Remember me?!  I used to blog all the time but now that I am a new mommy I just can't seem to find the time.  When Connor naps I always find other projects and things around the house to do.  I do miss it though and I miss reading all your blogs so I really need to make this a priority again. :)

Anyways....time is flying.  My baby boy is now 2 months and 5 days.  How did that happen so fast?!?!!  Here is what he has been up to for the past 4 weeks....

Weight/Height- On 7/10 I took Connor to the hospital's lactation department and did a "feed and weigh."  I weighed him before I BF him and he was 12.13 lbs.  After I fed him for 20 minutes he weighed 13 lbs.   That was over 2 weeks ago so I am guessing he is about 14 lbs now.  He is getting the cutest, big belly and chubby little thighs :)  Not sure on the height.  We have his 2 month appt. next week so I will find out for sure!

Sleep-  Still waking up 2x each night.  We have started giving him a bath at 8:00, then I feed him and he is usually asleep in his rock-n-play by 9:00 at the latest.  He usually sleeps until 1:30ish (although a few times he has slept until almost 3) then goes back to sleep until 4:30ish.  Then we get up for the day about 6:30.  He will go back to sleep around 8 for his long morning nap.  Then will take a couple more shorter naps in the afternoon.  I put him in his crib for a nap for the first time on Monday and he lasted about 45 minutes...instead of his normal 2-3 hour morning nap.  I have  put him in there a couple other times but he does not stay asleep.  So, I am going to keep trying and hope he gets used to it!  I planned on trying to put him in his crib at nights around 3 months but we'll see....

Feedings-   100% breast milk for the past 9 1/2 weeks!  Whohoo!! So glad I didn't give up back at 3 weeks.  Breastfeeding is going so great!  I am EBF but pumping once a day and freezing it so that I will have a good supply built up.  His reflux is so much better and we have even stopped giving him his medicine.  He still spits up a lot and is pretty gasy but so much better than the first few weeks.

Clothing/Diapers-  I told my husband just this morning that we are going to have to switch to size 2 diapers any day now.  Size 1 is just about too small.  He is wearing 3 month clothing now.  And even some 3 month onesies are a little tight on that big tummy ;)

Favorite Equipment-  The swing is still his favorite.  That is where he takes naps during the day or I will put him in there when he is awake and I need to do a few things.  He loves looking at the sheep hanging from the top and loves to "talk" to them.  We still love the boppy lounger, although he is getting to be a little too big for it and we love the rock-n-play sleeper at night.  In the past month he has grown to love his Baby Einstein Play Mat.  He used to hate it and wouldn't last more than a couple minutes.  Now he will stay down there for 30-45 min at a time (if he is in a good mood).

Big Moments/Favorite Things:
- Connor discovered his hands and tongue around week 7.  He constantly is putting his fists in his mouth and he always sticks out his tongue.
- He has also discovered the TV and loves to stare at it
- He is holding his head up really well and loves to practice sitting up by holding our fingers and having us help pull him up to a sitting position.
- Loves anything high....high ceilings, lights, trees, etc...
- LOVES bath time but hates getting out.  He screams bloody murder when we take him out of the bath. We try to get him warm fast but it doesn't always work!

Have a great weekend!

Connor's Newborns!

We had Connor's newborn photos taken back when he was just 1 week old but I am just getting around to posting them!  If you are looking for a photographer in the Houston area, you should definitely look up my friend Kaleigh!  She is a good friend of mine and an amazing photographer.  She did our pregnancy announcement, gender reveal, maternity and newborns and will be taking other pictures for us throughout the first year.  She is the best!! Visit her website here or her Facebook page here.
Here are several of my favorites from our newborn shoot with her :)

{Fourth of July}

Happy (late) 4th of July!

We celebrated Connor's 1st Fourth of July at The Woodlands Red, Hot and Blue Festival on the Waterway with family.  We found a great spot on the grass, ate Grimaldi's Pizza and watched the fireworks. We were a little nervous about taking a 6 week old to see the fireworks but it didn't seem to bother him, thank goodness!! I was ready to cover up his ears or get out of there if he had a major breakdown but he did great.  His little eyes got so big and he was just looking at me like "Mom, what is going on?!?"  :)

Hope yall had a fun day celebrating!!
