I can't believe it has been 5 days since I last posted. Busy, busy, busy! So, I know I am a few days late but I didn't want to miss recapping the fun weekend we had so, here ya go....
-Friday night we our only free night of the week and weekend so we made a date out of it. We headed out for some sushi, sake and wine at Kita close to our house. It was DELICIOUS! We did a little shopping then got poured on so decided to head home.
-Saturday we spent the day in with Chris's side of the family. His cousin, Jonathan, was graduating from high school so we spent the morning at his graduation then spent the afternoon at his families house for his graduation party. Jonathan and his 5 siblings have all been home-schooled by Chris's Aunt for their entire life. Jonathan will be going to Baylor on an Air Force ROTC scholarship and he is seriously one of the smartest, sweetest guys I know. Home School graduations are pretty cool...we had never been to one before. I have pictures but have not had time to put them on the computer yet. Boo. But, we had a great day celebrating with family! Saturday night I was exhausted and had a lot to do to get ready for Mother's Day so Chris went to a concert with his Dad and brother and I grocery shopped, cleaned and went to sleep early. Perfect Saturday night if you ask me :)
-On Sunday we spent half of the day celebrating Mother's Day with my family and half of the day with Chris's Mom and brothers. We went to church at my home church with my parents and got to see one of my best friends, Jen's, baby girl Ella get dedicated. (once again, I have pictures, just no time to post them yet) Then we had brunch at Landy's and spent a few hours hanging out with my family before heading home and getting ready to have Chris's family over for dinner! My husband makes the best ribs ever...so he made his ribs and I made a delicious twice baked potato casserole and Tommy Bahama's Asian Slaw (both recipes will be posted soon!). To top off an already huge meal, we had lemon meringue pie :)
Fun weekend with lots of reasons to celebrate...graduations, Mother's Day and baby dedications!
Now, on to some news, updates and other randomness........
-Today is day 1 of my 3 day juice cleanse! It is after 2:00 PM and I am feeling pretty good! I am 3 juices in and have 3 to go. I am going to do a couple full, detailed posts on this cleanse once it is over so you will just have to come back for more!
-I officially have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel :( My right hand and forearm have bothered me off and on for the past year but I kept ignoring it or forgetting about it on the days it did not hurt. The past 2 months it has gotten worse and hurts pretty much every day. My job is 95% on a computer and in today's world, with all the typing and texting and scrolling, I knew I needed to get this looked at ASAP before it got to the point where I could not use my hand. The first doctor told me I needed surgery and that he thought it was a compressed nerve in my upper forearm. He did not even offer any other treatment, just surgery so I decided I was not a huge fan of him and wanted a 2nd opinion. I went this past Monday to see a new doctor and after some xrays, strength tests and other crazy things he did to my hand and arm, he believes it is carpal tunnel. But, he does not want to even consider surgery since I am in the very early stages of this. He gave me a really lovely brace and a cortisone shot ( getting a shot in your wrist is NOT fun...FYI) and wants to wait 3 weeks to see how it feels. So far, so good! The brace is annoying and makes doing certain things hard but it has helped the pain SO much! Now I am fully stocked with an ergonomic mouse, mouse pad, keyboard and wrist rest. I am trying to train myself to use my left hand more and to take more breaks during the day to rest my right hand.
Cute huh??
-The Bachelorette is finally back!! Every season I tell myself I am not going to watch next season but this time was different. I looooove Emily and could not wait for her season! A few of my favorite guys after the 1st episode- (Ryan, Arie and Sean)
-And finally...super random...but... is there anyone else out there who saw the movie "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and hated it?! Almost everyone I know is obsessed with the books and loved the movie but I hated it. It took forever to get "interesting", there were some really disturbing parts and at the end of the movie I was left thinking "what the heck just happened?" I was so disappointed... After always hearing such great things about the book I was so excited to see what all the hype was about. Boooo.
That's it for now! Hope you all are having a fabulous week!
