This morning I reached 100 followers of this little blog of mine!! I never thought I would love blogging so much and never imagined I would make it to 100 followers. I have loved meeting a few of you in person and getting to know others over comments and emails. Thank you, again!!!!! =)
A couple months ago One Kings Lane was having a half off sale on Erin Condren giftcards. For $25 you got a $50 gift card to use on any Erin Condren products. SIGN ME UP! I immediately bought it since I have wanted one of her life planners for the past 6 months. The personalized planner is $50 so I only had to pay $5 for shipping. After reading so many of your posts on this amazing little planners I knew I had to have one and I could not be happier with it. Here is a look at mine: (sorry for the terrible blackberry pictures!)
I love how it is personalized and it came with all these cute gift tags and stickers! She also sells stationary, ipad and iphone cases, calendars, lucite trays, address labels and much more! Here is the website : www.erincondren.com
Wouldn't this be a great gift for a teacher or a friend who likes to be super organized?!
Bright and early Saturday morning the movers showed up to pack up our whole house and move us back to The Woodlands! 139 boxes and 10 hours later, we officially do not live in Houston anymore. Sunday was spent having a cleaning crew do a deep, move-out clean of our empty home and Chris and I touched up walls. We had breakfast at one of our favorite inner loop breakfast spots, Barnaby's then left our first home for the last night and headed to The Woodlands.
Our new house will not be ready until the beginning of February so all of our stuff, except for a few suitcases of clothes, will be in storage until it is time to move in. We are lucky to have both of our families there so we are going to be staying with them for the next few weeks. Here is our new house, as of yesterday! =) We hope they start putting in the hardwood floors and landscaping this week!
A lot of people don't like the building process but we LOVE it! It is so fun going to see it every week and seeing all the progress that has been made since the last time you saw it. Now that we are nearing the end we are a little more like "ok, hurry up and finish so we can move in!" But, if you ever have the opportunity to build a house, I highly recommend it!
This week we are going to try to figure out which gym we want to join in The Woodlands. We are leaning more toward 24 Hour Fitness because there is one so close to our new house and I get a really cheap membership fee through my company. And we are going to look for a new master bedroom set and kitchen table! Whohoo!
This week has been filled with excitement, stress, sadness, lack of sleep and worry. I am happy and thankful it is almost the weekend and next week is a new week...
~ Tuesday morning I found out a co-worker committed suicide by stepping in front of a train. He was young, married, a Dad and he had a great job but he was very sick with depression. I did not know him personally but had to exchange emails with him over the past 3 years. My heart broke for his family and friends and my co-workers who were close to him. RIP Denny...
~ Yesterday my boss called me in his office to tell me he is leaving our company and his position is not being replaced. So, pretty much I am "boss-less" until they figure out who I will report to now. He told me my job is not going anywhere but just who I report to and some of my responsibilities will change. I cried when he told me and I am pretty sure he got a little choked up too....he hired me in October 2006 and he has been the best boss I have ever had. He has given me so many great opportunities, promoted me twice and given me raises and bonuses when he could. Him and his wife were at my wedding. I know he is my boss (or WAS my boss) but I feel like I am losing my best friend. I have been so sad since he told me the news yesterday and worried about the changes that will come. But, I still have a job so I am thankful. I know God has a plan and I am just going to trust in Him...
~ On a much happier note...today begins our moving process!! The movers are at our house as I type this and packing everything up. Tonight will be our last night in our first home and we move tomorrow. It is very bittersweet. We are so excited about our new house and being back in The Woodlands but there are so many things we are going to miss about living in Houston. Our new house will not be ready until the beginning of February so we will just stay with our parents for a few weeks. Today was my last day of having a 10 minute commute to work. Starting Monday it will be 45 minutes-1 hour. I have a full "City vs Suburb" post coming soon. Adios, Houston!
~ The TEXANS are in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and the first game is tomorrow! GO TEXANS!! Happy Friday!
A new year = new resolutions. Actually some of these are not new...I make them every year but don't always follow through with them, but that is not going to stop me from trying again this year! Here are some of my goals for 2012:
1. Take some photography classes and really learn how to use my Nikon. I take hundreds of pictures every month and I even have really good photo editing software but I have no clue what I am doing. I really want to learn how take my camera off the automatic settings and learn how to use the editing software I have!
2. Start volunteering more. Once we move and get settled in The Woodlands I hope to join Junior League. I have several friends that are members and I am so excited to get back involved in the community! I used to volunteer regularly but over the past few years I have really gotten away from it...
3. I want to find a new, good church to get involved in and attend regularly. I grew up going to church every Sunday morning, night and Wednesday nights and was always very, very involved in youth group or small groups. But, the past few years we have been really bad about going regularly and staying involved. I want to find a good church we can join and really grow in and I want to find a good small group for us to be part of.
4. Take advantage of this possibly being the last year without kids and travel as much as we can. My husband and I LOVE to travel...we have taken so many amazing trips together over the past 4 years and we have so many more we want to take. We are very fortunate that we both have very good jobs and we are able to travel as much as we do. I know one day these world travels will come to an end for awhile so we really want to squeeze in some fun trips this year.
5. Get back in shape/get healthy/lose weight. This is ALWAYS on the list each year but it seems these past couple of years I have not followed through with it. I don't want to set an unrealistic goal that I can't (won't) keep. I just want to take it one day at a time and make little changes that will help me get healthy and get back in shape and lose weight over time. Over the past 2-3 years I have gained quite a few pounds and since we got married 8 months ago I have gained entirely too much. I just have not been taking care of my body. So, I am making little changes...cutting back on carbs and sugars, continue running and training for half marathons, start taking spinning and/or zumba at my new gym a couple days a week, etc...
Those are just a few of my big goals for this new year! What are some of your goals? Happy 2012, friends!
